What is HiTV?
HiTV is a Nigerian pay-TV satellite service. We provide a choice of high quality entertainment with a refreshingly affordable subscription price targeting the chronically underserved television market throughout Nigeria. |
What is your long term vision?
Our vision is to bring high quality, affordable entertainment to every home in Nigeria. We are focused on establishing a dynamic, accessible Nigerian Pay TV service, to offer world-class and affordable entertainment for the whole family. |
Who owns HiTV?
HiTV is a wholly owned subsidiary of HiMedia Limited and is the provider of the HiTV satellite Direct To Home (DTH) TV service across Nigeria. HiMedia Limited is a leading satellite communications company serving Nigerian telecoms operators and corporations.
HiMedia was created by Toyin Subair, who helped to found HiMedia Limited in 2007, so we benefit from a proven long-term commitment to the development of communications in Nigeria. |
What makes HiTV different and better?
HiTV is a refreshingly new kind of TV service focusing on: Access – We believe that quality TV should be accessible to everybody; not just reserved for the privileged few. We are committed to bringing the finest entertainment the world has to offer into Nigerian homes, constantly broadening both the choice of programming on offer and the way it’s offered.
Being Customer Obsessed – HiTV is a consumer champion – we are determined to find out what you want and to work out how best to give it to you. We’re honest and straightforward, and most of all, we really listen to our customers.
Being Challenging and Innovative – We challenge the status quo and ourselves – constantly raising the bar through innovative technology in our operations, customer service and programming content.
The best of global and local – HiTV is reinventing the TV market in Nigeria. We feature international content and actively promote and support local content by carrying an ever-increasing proportion of locally generated content in each of our markets. This means HiTV will be personally relevant to customers everywhere in Nigeria. If you have local content that we can air we'd be very interested to hear from you. Please get in contact with us through this website. |

Why should consumers spend valuable disposable income on pay TV?
HiTV’s way of offering pay TV means customers get a world-class, varied selection of content, with far more news, sports, movies and other entertaining programmes than is possible with free-to-air TV. HiTV gives many more people the opportunity to have great TV around the clock, in their homes, at a price comparable to hiring [5-6] DVDs a month, a family meal at a local restaurant or a night out with friends – all typical ways of spending leisure time. We believe we will give you great value for money. |
Who are your target customers?
HiTV is for everyone. For the first time ever, pay TV is affordable to a wide section of Nigerian consumers. In particular, we are targeting households who value TV but have previously been put off pay-TV by the high cost. We are also targeting bars and clubs who are interested in offering premium sports programmes at a more affordable price. |
What is the potential market for HiTV in Nigeria?
Across Nigeria, over 60 million households own a colour TV. Less than 10% of those subscribe to pay TV. There is enormous demand for more affordable Pay-TV across Nigeria. The key barrier has been the absence of a company committed to delivering a service that is both affordable and relevant to local tastes. We are that company. |
